Cozy Holes is a first-person adventure game where you take on the role of Digby, a magical shovel. With Digby, you’ll explore a world of sand with treasures buried beneath the dunes. It’s not just about collecting valuables, however; hidden beneath the surface are structures, biomes, and secrets.
As you explore, you’ll learn more about the lost shovel tribe, earn ways to upgrade your digging ability, and spend a few hours digging holes. You’ll be able to find crystals, ores, metals, and a few tablets left behind from an ancient civilization.
As you progress, you’ll be able to upgrade your digging speed, shovel toughness, digging size, climb speed, and detector level.
Right now, the demo is out if you want to give Cozy Holes a try. I played around in the sands a bit and it was interesting to see swirling tornadoes out amongst the dunes. They carve divots out in the sand and they don’t hurt you. So, you’re able to follow along behind them and scoop up whatever material they unearth.
The tropical landscape is bisected with a surprising amount of lava, so your first instinct may be not to dig down, but doing so will introduce you to new biomes, new treasures, and new challenges that will require upgrades to conquer.
Cozy Holes is made by a two-person team and, while there isn’t a release date announced just yet, we’re likely going to hear more about when Cozy Holes will go into early access in the next year.
Now is a great time to try out the demo and wishlist the game. It’s a cute concept and there are five achievements that you can earn through the demo.
