EVIL CORP GAMES (also known as Skye) has just announced a new incremental-clicker game called Unboxathon. We can expect to enjoy it on Steam sometime in 2025. There’s no word yet on exact dates or what we can expect for a price.
In Unboxathon, you’ll open mystery boxes to see what’s inside. Your goal is to find a treasured teddy bear that I’m assuming was packed up and misplaced. There’s no real word on why our teddy bear is in a lootbox, but we know it’s ours from childhood.
Judging by the trailer, to acquire these lootboxes, you’ll have to pop bubbles that contain them. These bubbles will float across the screen, and by clicking on a certain number of them, you’ll be able to fill up a bar that, once full, will spawn a lootbox for you.

By opening lootboxes, you’ll find various objects that are common or as special as being magical relics or luxury goods. By selling the objects you find, you’ll be able to use that money in order to upgrade your gameplay!
Through upgrading, you’ll be able to buy higher value boxes that will guarantee better items, get special bubbles, and increase box quality, among other upgrades to improve your playing experience.
There seems to be a ton of ways to upgrade the incremental gameplay, and I’m super excited to see more about this game in the coming months.
Personally, I have fond memories of playing incremental games when the only way to play them was on browsers. Seeing a shift into upgrading games as a core game type has been exciting, and my wizened old heart is overjoyed to see more hitting the market. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more information on Unboxathon.Â
If you want to keep tabs on Unboxathon as well, you can wishlist the game over on Steam. Not only will it keep it on your radar, but it will help the developer out as well.
