| Quick Verdict: I legitimately have no complaints about the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi gaming glasses. They’re incredibly comfortable on various-sized heads, they’re fun, and they feel like something Moxxi would actually wear. The accessories are unique and work well. GUNNAR set out to make a good licensed product, and they succeeded. |

I’ve been a fan of the Borderlands franchise since the first game came out in 2009. Between the crude early 2000s humor, iconic designs, and fun turn-your-brain-off action, the characters were the standout attraction to the game. Over a decade and a half later, across several games, one character remains as iconic as the day she premiered: Mad Moxxi.
With the recent release of Borderlands 4, GUNNAR took advantage of the license with a couple of unique frame styles. I’ve gone into detail previously on the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Ripper glasses (which I also liked). But, the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi gaming glasses really take the cake (and the jackpot).
Let’s dive into why this might be one of the best licensed pairs of glasses that GUNNAR has produced to date, and why I’m here to encourage them to continue being creative with their collaborations.
What’s in the box?

Right out of the box, you’re in for an absolute treat. As always, you’re going to expect a hardshell case of some sort, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a microfiber carry pouch. But, once in a while, GUNNAR goes above and beyond for the throw-in accessories.
In true Moxxi fashion, the new faux leather (the official page on the website calls it both “faux-leather” and “leather”) cases that were introduced with the Witcher line of glasses got an upgrade specifically for the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi edition glasses.
Instead of the button clasp for closing both of the Witcher cases, the Moxxi case has a great steampunk-esque lock. While it won’t be comfortable in your pocket, it looks super cool, especially with the engraved bullet design on the outer flap and the Queen playing card on the case itself.
In addition, the carry pouch has a print meant to resemble the kind of corset that Moxxi tends to wear. The microfiber cloth has some sort of close-up key art of Mad Moxxi wearing what she wears in Borderlands 4.
My only qualm is that GUNNAR never includes an artist credit on their licensed art (to the point that they sometimes crop off artist signatures). Usually, I can find an artist to include in my review articles, but I can’t find this specific art anywhere.
Tech in the Specs (or, Holding a Lens Up to These Glasses)

Let’s get the technology in the lenses out of the way first. If we’re talking about GUNNAR gaming glasses, you’re going to expect the same great coatings as they always offer.
The GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi glasses normally come in either 65 Amber or 98 Amber Max. With the 65 Amber pair I have for review, you’re going to be getting a nice yellow tone that you’d expect from any blue light blocking glasses. The Amber Max blocks 98% of blue light, but will come with a deeper, more orange filter.
You’re also going to rest assured that the usual anti-reflective, smudge-resistant, 100% UV coating is present. As someone who doesn’t wear prescription glasses, they’re also generally great for wind shear, which is something I’ll talk about more a little later.
The frame itself looks like it’s meant to mimic steampunk goggles in some ways, with fold-out mesh side shields and a gold-tone finish on the entire frame. Because it’s Moxxi, you can also find a tiny heart on the corner of one of the lenses, as well as another on the far tip of one of the arms.
The other arm has a subtle Borderlands vault logo. In fact, the branding is just subtle enough that you can almost get away with enjoying these without knowing anything about the game series. But those who do know it will love the look and get it right away.
Wearing the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi glasses

I started this article singing the praises of the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi glasses and I’m not going to stop now. These glasses set out to do something specific and GUNNAR succeeded on all fronts.
Wearing these glasses, they’re actually comfortable. I know they’re intended for women, but they work well for people like me with a larger head due to the flexible hinges that, frankly, every GUNNAR frame should have.
I mentioned the fold-out mesh side shields earlier. They’re very similar to the GUNNAR Tallac glasses (which I reviewed over on KnowTechie a year and a half ago), if you’ve ever seen them. They turn the usual normal frames into protection on either side of your eyes, almost taking on a goggle-like look
Similar to the Tallac, they give some additional protection against wind shear. Though unlike the Tallac, the mesh lets you see a little more of your peripheral vision.
But, on my face, they’re just, surprisingly, well-balanced and don’t feel like they’re constricting anything. All in all, I have no complaints (for once).
Final Verdict

If you’re a fan of Borderlands and need to get yourself a new pair of blue blockers, I give my whole-hearted, 30 billion-gun salute for the GUNNAR Borderlands 4, Moxxi gaming glasses. You can grab them for $99 on GUNNAR’s website for the Amber and Amber Max lenses.
While you’re here, check out my reviews on various GUNNAR glasses. The Moxxi pair, getting a perfect 10, is one of my only high scores from the licensed lines from GUNNAR.
