The Pokémon Company announced today that there are a plethora of “New & Updated Future Features” coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket in the near future. This includes a new share feature, opening up more types of cards that can be traded, and more.
In the video put out on the official Pokémon YouTube Channel, the narrator dives right into the first update: the Share feature. The Share option will open up in the Social Hub in the Pokémon TCG Pocket game.
It allows you to give a card to a friend, as long as it’s between one and four diamonds. You can share with the same friend one time per day, and it’ll show up in their Gifts. Consider it like trading without the hassle of approvals. You want to give a gift, you give a gift.
In addition, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced “Update 2”, that the current range of cards allowed to be traded is being expanded. Currently, you can only trade cards between one and four diamonds or one star.
With the update, you’ll also be allowed to trade Two-Star, Shiny One-Star, or Shiny Two-Star cards. This means that the only cards not currently available for trading would be Immersive Rare (Three-Star) cards and Promos. You’ll still use Shinedust to trade, as the video shows that a Two-Star card takes 25,000 Shinedust to trade that level of stars.
In addition, the newest set, Deluxe Set ex, will also be tradeable in this way at the same time as this launch.
More to the update than just sharing and trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket
At the end of the update video, Pokémon TCG Pocket didn’t go into too much detail, but also showed off “Update 3” and “Update 4”.
Update 3 explains that Wonder Picks are about to get a lot more useful as “cards not registered in your card dex will appear more often.” This means that you’re going to see cards you actually need more often instead of the same things over and over.
Update 4 explains that flair is going to be obtained automatically, going forward, for cards. There are going to be requirements to get them instead of the need for Shinedust.
There is no current release date or window announced for these updates. But, it’s plausible that it’ll come alongside this month’s new set due to drop later on in October. I’m sure we’ll cover it all as it comes out, as that also coincides with the first anniversary of Pokémon TCG Pocket (which is October 30th).
