Over a year ago, Little Kitty, Big City became one of our immediate favorites. You get to be a kitty, wear hats, make mischief, and just be a cute little thing causing chaos around the city as you make your way home. But, during the Wholesome Direct Showcase, the developers at Double Dagger Studio announced that a new content update is coming this summer. Oh, and it’s free!

They didn’t say much about what you can fully expect during the showcase, but based on the laundry list of things, it seems like it’s going to be a lot. This might even be a “worth-restarting-the-game” kind of amount of new content.

Check out the new trailer for the Little Kitty, Big City free content update!

Once the content update hits, you’ll “meet new characters, update your hat wardrobe, customize your Kitty, unlock a host of photo mode features, make friends with a feline superstar, cause even more chaos for the humans,” and more.

Of note, getting new areas, characters, and hats is excellent on its own. However, the “Customize Your Kitty” caught my attention immediately. As a black cat fan myself, I’ve always been happy that the Kitty was a black cat. But, in the trailer, you can see so many different colors and breeds that you can make Kitty into and it looks completely customizable.

Double Dagger Studio, with a game so great, has some background in other great games, being founded in Bellevue, Washington by veteran game developer Matt T. Wood. According to their bio in the press release we were sent, “previously, Matt worked on hit titles at Valve, including Half-Life 2, Portal 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Left 4 Dead. Double Dagger Studio has been working with contractors and collaborators from across the globe on their first title, Little Kitty, Big City.”

Seriously, if you haven’t played Little Kitty, Big City yet, you’re doing yourself a disservice. We’ve included it on a couple of lists in the past, such as the best cozy games under $25 and best Nintendo Switch cozy game titles.

Considering it’s on Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, it’s worth picking up at the full $24.99 price.
