Clean the Sea!
When I saw Clean the Sea!, I could see that it was highly inspired by a mobile platform. You play as a small boat with a “picker” on the front. You use this boat to drive around the area cordoned off by buoys, picking up trash and hauling it to a dumpster to sell.
At first, you’ll start slow and with very little room for trash, but you can upgrade the speed of your boat and the size of your picker to haul more trash. Eventually, you can hire tinier ships that can pick up one piece of trash at a time with the ability to upgrade them. Or, you can hire a drone for a minute.
Everything takes money except for the drone which will take your coins. You’ll get coins by picking up random golden items floating out at sea or by opening up a treasure chest. Generally, but not every time, a chest will be in an area that you open up and it will give either money or gold.
To open up more areas, you have to clean up the space until it’s deemed clean and then pay the price to open the area. And that’s pretty much the game.
You’ll clean up an area until there are no more areas to open and head to the next place that needs cleaning. Unfortunately, there are only four areas available right now, so you’re looking at about an hour of gameplay in total.
I’m Old Gregg, the guardian of the funk.

It seems they have intentions of adding more places. But, if it’s one at a time, then you’re probably only looking at only 15 minutes of gameplay that will be opened in the future.
Thankfully, the game is only $2.99, so it’s a comparable price for what it is. It might be a good game for kids. But, you may not find a lot of enjoyment in it if you’re an older player.
I was fine with it, but it was very one note. My thumb hurt a bit because you basically have to have it pushed in a direction the whole time.
Aside from gameplay, the art is on par with mobile games of this type and there’s zero music. I turned on my own playlist, which made it a bit more enjoyable.
If you’re a fan of mobile-style clean-up games, you can give Clean the Sea! a try. But, you might want to wait until there are more areas opened up.
On the bright side, if you’re a fan of achievements, this is an easy way to get 18 of them on Steam.
If you want Clean the Sea!, you can grab it on Steam for $2.99. Otherwise, if you want a game that reminds me of this, but is actually enjoyable then you can check out our review of My Little Universe.
