It’s National Squirrel Appreciation Day (January 21st) and what better way to celebrate than by playing cozy squirrel games? Grab your snacks, hunker down, and relax with these comfy-looking critters!
In two of these games, you embody the squirrel, but in the other, you’re observing them. If you’re like my cats, you’re already an expert in squirrel observation.
We do our best not to highlight games that use Generative AI at any level of development or marketing. At the time of posting, these games have not reported or disclosed using Gen AI. Likewise, all articles are written and edited by humans… as evidenced by our occasional errors.
3 cozy squirrel games

Squirreled Away
Squirreled Away is an exploration adventure game where you play as a squirrel just doing squirrel things. Explore, gather, craft, and build treehouses while you roam a park. Meet other wildlife creatures to make friends and help them with quests. Hop from branch to branch solo or with friends up to 4 players!
NUTS
NUTS is a walking sim with an interesting artstyle that charges you with surveying Melmoth Forest in hopes of solving where the squirrels are nesting. Your goal is to record the squirrels and report your findings. Decide day to day where to set your cameras for the best outcome and observe the weirdness going on.

Leafing Home
Leafing Home is an exploration adventure where you are working to find the World Tree’s fruit and make your way home. Along the way, you’ll meet new friends and solve puzzles. You’ll overcome minigames, flight challenges, and platforming. If you thought that was all, it’s not! Collect trash, plant 16 unique flora, save the bees, catch a blue-footed booby, and more!
If none of these cozy squirrel games make you want to store them away for winter, then you can check out some of our other themed lists, like 3 cozy potion games or 3 cozy penguin games.
