Today was a minefield. I’m not going to lie, there were a metric crapton of releases today and the fact that I was able to dig up 27 cozy games is miraculous. I truly wasn’t seeing the forest for the trees today. If you’re looking for horror games, hentai, or don’t care about Gen AI slop, then you may want to go searching. It’s a good day for it all.
The good news is that this list is even more tightly curated than usual, still has a bounty of games, and there are TWO cozy free-to-play games. They’re both idlers, so you know I’ve already got them in my library.

Heartspell: Horizon Academy
Heartspell: Horizon Academy is a match-3 visual novel dating sim. There are eleven main characters to choose from and none of your choices block you from dating others, so you’ll be able to experience everything in one playthrough. And, if you’re only interested in the visual novel aspect, you switch between modes to turn off the puzzles!
Maktala: Slime Lootfest
Maktala: Slime Lootfest is an incremental idler. You’ll battle against hordes of slimes and use their loot to boost your power. With a skill tree, you’ll be able to increase your stats to farm slimes more easily. Encounter shiny monsters, unlock the archer, and mine ore to enhance your gameplay.
Galaxy Princess Zorana
Galaxy Princess Zorana is a political sim visual novel. You play as Zorana, the daughter of the Evil Emperor. It’s time for you to take the throne, but with assassins afoot, will you make it through the Imperial Election? Make deals, appoint advisors, raise your stats, and scheme your way to the top.

Heartspell: Horizon Academy speaks to my love of match-3 games and the art is STELLAR. On the opposite side of the fence, The DvD idle game is so absurdly silly and yet my ancient heart yearns for the mines nostalgia.
The only thing I love more than little guys is slimes, so Maktala: Slime Lootfest is up there. And, feeding into the slime aesthetic, JellieShift is a puzzle platformer that looked incredibly chill and charming.
Obviously, I have to mention the two free idlers, Fawn The Florist and Farlands: Tiny Harvest.
