Another month has come and gone, so it’s time for August 2025’s Cozy Game roundup. In terms of cozy gaming, August had quite a bit of wealth to explore from several different genres. Thankfully, it looks like September is shaping up to offer a lot of enjoyment as well, just in time for the weather to start getting a little cooler!

I don’t know about you, but I adore building a blanket nest and vegging out with a good game. I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement for the seasons to change and cozy weather to begin.

In addition to a ton of game reviews, we had a bit of news, a few guides, and an opinion piece on what cozy as a gaming genre really means.

Cozy Game Reviews

Catto's Post Office

Catto’s Post Office

Quick Verdict: Catto’s Post Office is a short and sweet game that I enjoyed. It’s only about an hour of gameplay and if you want all the achievements, you’ll need to replay it once to choose different options. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the little extra tasks you could complete for achievements.

Bus Flipper: Renovator Simulator

Quick Verdict: Bus Flipper: Renovator Simulator is good, not great. There are several elements implemented that keep it from rising to the top of the simulator/flipper game pile. Generally, it’s the tediousness of placing items and assembling while in a crowded space that really drags down the experience.

Whimside

Whimside

Quick Verdict: Whimside utilizes the premise of taking two Whimlings, breeding them together, and seeing what hatches. At first, I found it a bit confusing because it’s a lot to take in all at once. I missed the helpful details that would have been invaluable during the early stages.

MakeRoom

Quick Verdict: MakeRoom is a fantastic buy for those who enjoy designing rooms and objects. I have a few qualms, but none that are a deal breaker. I will say, however, that if you’re the type of person (like me) who will only design a room once, this might be a pass. A lot of the $10 price tag value comes from the replayability of designing rooms.

Is This Seat Taken?

Is This Seat Taken?

Quick Verdict: Is This Seat Taken? is a great game for those who love puzzles but want to play on a lower difficulty setting. The challenge level does scale up as you progress, but with no time limits or penalties for switching people around until you get it right.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Quick Verdict: Hello Kitty Island Adventure isn’t the type of game where you can play as long as you’d like. There are stopgaps that keep you from progressing because it was built on a mobile model. Instead, you’ll get something you can come back to daily and progress with at a more sedate pace.

Out and About

Out and About

Quick Verdict: Out and About has an adorable premise of using real plants and recipes to craft and sell in order to restore a town. It’s foraging, cooking, and exploration, so it should be a hit. Unfortunately, there’s a lot that’s dragging it down and makes gameplay feel more of a slog than a cute, relaxing game.

Spirit City: Lofi Sessions All Aboard DLC

Quick Verdict: Spirit City: Lofi Sessions – All Aboard! DLC is another hit out of the park for Mooncube Games. Yet again, I have so much more to love and very little to nothing to complain about. I love that there are new variations of past companions and highly recommend adding the DLC to your playing experience.
