Rejoice, Pokémon Trainers! Mega evolutions are back in a big way on Pokémon TCG Pocket. Starting this Fall, the newest set will introduce the first Mega Evolutions for TCG Pocket. They’ll be the first Megas we’ve seen since the end of the 7th generation, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon back in 2017.

This new element should correlate to their return in Pokémon Legends Z-A as well. So, it’s nice to see things synchronize across the platforms.

Not only will this bring more amazing art to Pokémon TCG Pocket, but it brings a huge mechanic with it as well. Playing a Mega Evolution will give you a great boon to your attack and defense, but it comes at an even greater risk. Any Mega Evolution that is bested will net the victor 3 points and result in an automatic win.

Will you risk it all or play it safe?

If you’re like me and you just play to collect, then you can enjoy some new art coming your way! It won’t be quite as satisfying as pulling out a Mega Evolution in battle, but there’s still enjoyment in adding it to your lineup.

Which will you choose? Mega Gyarados ex, Mega Blaziken ex, or my personal choice, Mega Altaria ex?

While we wait for the newest set to drop, you can check out the guide we posted for the current set, Wisdom of Sea and Sky.
