Cozy games have become synonymous with farming and I know a lot of us are getting a little tired of having to manage seeds, water levels, and everything else that comes with growing plant life. So, here’s a list of 12 cozy games on the Nintendo Switch systems that have absolutely nothing to do with farming!
I’ve played all of these games personally and there’s not a bad one in the bunch. This particular list links to Nintendo Switch, but all of these games can be found on Steam and other platforms as well.

Non-farming Cozy Games on Nintendo Switch!
Smushi Come Home
Smushi Come Home is an open-world adventure game where you play as a little mushroom lost in the woods, trying to find your way home. You’ll explore different areas of the forest, learn about real mushrooms in a Mycology Journal, and take part in light platforming and puzzle solving. I can’t recommend this game enough; it’s one that I think of fondly and wish I could play for the first time again. I really enjoyed the freedom to explore and decompress in a whimsical little world. Plus, you get to collect different mushroom hats!
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is an exploration game where you play as Alba, a little girl visiting her grandparents on a Mediterranean island. You’ll wander around taking pictures of wildlife, cleaning up messes, helping animals, and maybe even thwarting a corporate takeover! This game is the definition of freedom for me. I could run in any direction and have something to do. It was so relaxing to just sink into the game with no timers or challenges.
Caravan SandWitch
Caravan SandWitch is an exploration adventure game where you are on a quest to figure out what happened to your sister. You’ll explore your hometown planet that has been mostly abandoned for clues. This game is filled to the brim with things to do. There are dozens of quests, lots of different types of buildings to explore, and a really fun van to drive all over. If you’re looking for a game that you can sink hours upon hours into, this is it. I so enjoyed getting to explore the abandoned areas and salvage everything I found.
Little Kitty, Big City
Little Kitty, Big City is an exploration adventure game where you take on the role of a cat who has fallen from the window of your home and must find your way back up. The city is full of quests for you to complete and silly hats for you to find. I so enjoyed this game. I love quests, so getting to run around the city completing things was a joy. And, it’s even better than when I played because you can customize your cat character! I’m going to have to replay it to make my own kitty.
Mika and The Witch’s Mountain
Mika and The Witch’s Mountain is a fantasy adventure game where you play as Mika, an aspiring witch trying to prove herself. You’ll soar through the skies, delivering packages around a small island. I had a lot of fun zooming all over the island. There’s a good balance of delivering packages and getting to go off on side quests. It felt like there was always something I could be working on.
Mail Time
Mail Time is a platforming game where you are a newly trained Mail Scout on your first mission to deliver mail across a valley of inhabitants. This game is filled to the brim with whimsy. The artstyle is easily one of the coziest that I’ve been able to play in and while it’s a platformer, I found it to be fairly easy to navigate around, so you don’t have to worry about getting stuck or frustrated.
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island puts you in the shoes of Alex, a woman shipwrecked on a mythical island filled with Greek Gods. The only problem is that their memories are blocked, so you’ll need to complete quests in order to help them remember. As someone who LOVES quests, this game was so fun for me to sink into. I enjoyed that there were clear goals and loved the art style and design. The characters were familiar while feeling new. If you love quest-heavy games, you need this one!
Here Comes Niko!
Here Comes Niko! is an exploration 3D platformer where you play as Niko, someone who is a new hire of Tadpole Incorporated as a “professional friend”. You’ll go to several different islands, meeting new people and helping them with tasks. Oh, and your boss is a frog, of course! This game gave me a new appreciation for 3D platformers. I’m notoriously bad at them, but this game took a gentle approach and while I didn’t always make the jump, I never got frustrated.
Loddlenaut
Loddlenuat puts you in the shoes of a cleanup specialist who is helping to clean up after your company has left an underwater planet. It’ll be up to you to clean up all the waste and sludge left behind. Explore an open world, unlock special gadgets to help you clean, and meet adorable little creatures known as loddles. This game is one that I really enjoyed. The artstyle is charming and the pacing felt chill, so I didn’t feel rushed. Plus, the Loddles were so cute! I wanted to hoard them all.
Sticky Business
Sticky Business is a simulation game where you run a sticker business. You’ll create stickers, pack orders, and hear customers’ stories. Each sticker is individually designed by you from several different elements. You’ll be able to pick the finish on them and customize the packages for your customers. The options for customization makes it feel like you’re really creating something for yourself. I really loved putting different elements together to make things I genuinely wanted to own. Plus, it was really cute that I could customize packages for customers.
A Short Hike
A Short Hike is an exploration game where you visit your aunt at Hawk Peak Provincial Park. You’ll explore the mountain by hiking, climbing, and soaring your way around. Reach the peak at your own speed and feel free to search for hidden treasures or help out your fellow hikers along the way. This is a game that I played early on and helped to cement my love of exploration games. While it may be short, I loved that I was encouraged to just explore at my own pace and there was no particular order I had to do things in.
Is This Seat Taken?
Is This Seat Taken? is a logic puzzle where you’ll need to manage the seating chart for multiple people who all have specific requests. It starts easy, but things start getting harder since some issues have an area of effect that you’ll need to work around. Luckily, you can move people around without penalty and there are no timers, so you have the freedom to futz with their placements until everyone is satisfied. While the game does ramp up a bit in difficulty, this is a puzzle game that felt like it was designed for enjoyment rather than challenge. I never felt frustrated and I appreciated the fact that I wasn’t penalized for moving the people around. It was a really fun time.
