There are some of us who love cleaning, but I can’t say that I’m especially jazzed for it. What I can be conned into is cleaning virtual spaces. VacuuBot: Home Cleaning System lets you take on the role of a robotic vacuum, zooming around dirty spaces and underneath furniture to clean up the dirt and debris on the floor.
The vacuum actually moved pretty fast, so it’s enjoyable to zoom from one end of the room to the other. And, that’s without using the boost! If you want to put on the nitrous oxide boosters, you can go to ludicrous speed. Vacuuming and roaming around will drain the battery, so you’ll want to make sure that you know where the power dock is.
Once you’ve found it, you need to be on top of the charging plate and engage in a tiny little mini-game. I played on a controller, so it was just pressing the buttons that popped up. Likewise, you’ll need to find the trash dock where you can unload the dustbin and engage in the same mini-game.
By completing rooms, you’ll be rewarded with a little cosmetic item so you can dress up your VacuuBot. I was especially delighted by the tophat and turned him into a dapper little gentleman the first chance that I got.
All in all, VacuuBot: Home Cleaning System was fun to play. I just had a few hiccups when setting the game up. In tutorial mode and playing with a controller, there are heavy vibrations that pulse through it when vacuuming. Luckily, there are settings to turn that off. But, unfortunately, there was some sort of glitch that wasn’t registering the change inside the tutorial.

I had to exit that before the changes would be applied. And then, I couldn’t seem to get the VacuuBot to actually turn the sucking on. I tried on the controller and keyboard, but pressing the button that it indicated didn’t turn it on. So, I had to change the settings again, this time switching the mode that engaged the suction, which meant I had to keep holding the button for it to actually work.
It wasn’t that big of a deal for me, but it’s something to note for the team since I’m sure that was a bug and it could cause accessibility issues for people who need kinder settings for their hands.
On the subject of accessibility, there are three options for those with phobias. The demo doesn’t have these things, so you can play it without issue. However, there are spiders, cockroaches, and general bugs in the game. You have the ability to toggle these off individually to suit your needs if you have a phobia of any of these.
Overall, I had a really good time with VacuuBot: Home Cleaning System and I urge you to go check out the demo for yourself. While you’re there, if you like the game, then go ahead and add it to your wishlist since that will help out the developers.
