The Adorable Adventures demo has dropped, and you know that I had to try it out! It follows the adventures of a tiny baby boar named Boris, who is the cutest little thing I’ve seen all year. (Excluding my cats, obviously.) I got so much serotonin listening to his little hooves clop as he walked.
Your goal is to help Boris find his family. In the demo, that’s his brother, Gary. You’ll follow the scent of your brother, but before you find him, you’ll get distracted by other scents that will overpower the trail. The only way to deal with the interference is by exploring the unknown.
Boris will be distracted by flowers, mushrooms, and even a few human items, like empty cans or soccer balls. Sometimes, smelling it once is enough for Boris to be familiar, but most times you’ll have to find it about 3-5 times in order to ignore the distracting aromas.
Adorable Adventures‘ gameplay model will take you on a winding path as you search out the scents. Thankfully, you’ll still be able to find Gary relatively quickly, but he’ll need a plant to help him get going. Here’s where I ended up having a bit of a flub, and I’m not sure if it was an error on my part or if the game glitched.
Once you find Gary, you’ll go on the hunt for the plant he needs, which is one that you have to dig up. I thought that was good enough and tried to return to Gary to give it to him, but he wouldn’t take it. There’s no inventory system to check if you have it on you, and I realized that I might have needed to pick it up.
Along the way, Boris was able to pick up a can, so I figured I’d just go back to where I was and pick the plant up. No big deal, right? Unfortunately, it was a very big deal. The scent of the plant no longer registered, and Boris constantly kept getting distracted. I figured I’d pay my dues, round up all the scents, and once I could tune out all other scents, I’d be brought back to the plant I needed. I wasn’t.
Even with that being the only scent I set for Boris to follow, he wouldn’t. I’m fairly sure I got back to the spot anyway, but there was nothing to grab. Either the game glitched and wouldn’t let me give the plant to Gary, or the item poofed out of existence when I left without picking it up.

Either way, I’m unsure what happened because I wasn’t willing to restart the demo at that point. Add in the fact that I had a touch of motion sickness, and I wasn’t ready to explore options.
As you adventure, you’ll find remnants forgotten by humans, including pictures and cameras. If you want to go for the gold, you can carry the camera around until it shows the image in the picture. Additionally, there are little areas where butterflies will land to indicate a race.
If you’re feeling speedy, you can gallop around the track made by the butterflies and try to beat your own time. Doing this is what actually caused my motion sickness to pop up. Upon glancing at the settings, there were no options to turn off motion blur, and I’m fairly certain that was what triggered it. Most people won’t be affected by that, but if you’re sensitive to motion, you may gonna go light on making Boris zoom.
Overall, Adorable Adventures is a great little game to just trot around in. There are no time limits or looming quests. Everything is at your own pace, so it’ll be a perfect little game to cozy into when it releases. If you’d like to try out the demo, you can do that over on the Steam page. While you’re there, go ahead and wishlist the game since that helps the developers out.
If you want to stick around a little longer, you can check out some of the other demos I’ve covered, like Block Block Block and Restore Your Island.
