Quick Verdict: Despite being an inexplicable collaboration with Fortnite player Clix on the lower price range, the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles are actually a fine delivery of style and comfort for the affordable side of GUNNAR’s offerings. |

I tend to review a lot of GUNNAR’s more prestigious and expensive glasses here on Comfy Cozy Gaming. However, it’s easy to forget that GUNNAR does make quite a few lower-cost glasses for some of their collaborations. The GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles may have a weird name, but they’re honestly great for gaming.
Normally, the collabs with brands are focused on a specific game or IP. But, GUNNAR teamed up with Fortnite pro player Clix to offer some affordable gaming glasses that work pretty well and look really good. As an avid Fortnite player myself, I was excited to try these out and see how they fare while playing Fortnite.
What’s in the box?

Since this is among the lower lineup of GUNNAR glasses, the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles don’t come with the usual hard shell case that often comes with the higher-priced frames. But, aside from the glasses themselves, you’re treated to an officially licensed Clix-branded microfiber carry pouch and matching microfiber cloth.
The gray color scheme and a drawn version of Clix’s face adorn both throw-in items on one side, with the Clix and GUNNAR logos on the reverse. It’s nothing special, as these come with nearly all GUNNAR glasses. But, aside from a tiny hint on the glasses themselves, the custom printing on the pouch and cloth is what makes it a collaboration. It feels underwhelming, if I’m perfectly honest.
The awkward part is that Clix appears to be wearing gaming glasses in the image, though they’re a completely different frame that doesn’t even resemble the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles. This is a consistent issue that I see with GUNNAR collabs when they’re on the cheaper range: lack of attention to detail.
Tech in the Specs (or, Holding a Lens Up to These Glasses)

It’s hard to give a low capability score to any GUNNAR glasses as they have the same technology built into all of their lenses, no matter the price range. You’ll always get anti-glare, anti-reflective, smudge-resistant, and oleophobic capabilities with the G-Shield Plus tech. Plus, they always protect you from blue light and are 100% UV blocking. To put it simply, the lenses are always top-notch.
The frame is built from a hybrid of PEP and stainless steel, which gives a flexible frame that bends to your will, even though the hinges are just multi-barrel and don’t flex as well. This reminds me of the old GUNNAR PPK frames that I had at the same price range almost a decade ago, which were very unique even to this day.
The problem with this level of flex is that it’s hard to know when you’re possibly going too far with how you bend them and often feel like you may break them, even if you likely won’t. It was a fear I had with the PPK at the time as well.
An additional factor that is pretty unique to this Clix collab is the number of lens options you can choose from. My review sample is their 65 Amber, which is a great baseline for testing purposes. However, the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles also come in their 35 Clear, 98 Amber Max, and Sunglasses options. On top of those, if you opt to get the prescription option, you can also choose my all-time favorite lens from GUNNAR, the 20 Clear Pro.
Wearing the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles

Comfort-wise, the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles are surprisingly great to wear. With the flexibility, they fit great on my big head and don’t squeeze at all.
The square style lends itself to gaming by covering more ground, so you aren’t looking at a frame in place of your video game. While the name of the frame calls them “goggles”, they’re just glasses. The closest I’ve seen from GUNNAR with it comes to goggles has to be their now-older Tallac frames (which I reviewed over on KnowTechie last year and loved).
Using them for gaming, they’re actually pretty comfortable and don’t hinder your vision at all. I used them for multiple Fortnite Battle Royale matches, as well as various other modes and creator maps. They definitely do the job they set out to do.
Final Verdict

All in all, for $74, the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles are actually really good when you look at them as just another pair of glasses that GUNNAR has produced.
As a collaboration, however, the branding feels tacked on and unnecessary. The “Clix” logo is adorned on the temples of each side of the glasses’ arms and, well, that’s it. If those logos weren’t there and this was just an affordable option from GUNNAR, this would have easily been a higher score from me. However, calling this a collab actually hurt the overall review score.
Honestly, I really like the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles and am glad to see some awesome offerings for this price range. Despite my qualms, I do highly recommend this frame.
You can grab the GUNNAR Clix Gaming Goggles for $74 on GUNNAR’s website in all of the lens options mentioned above. You can also check out Clix on Twitch.
If you want to see what GUNNAR can really do when no boundaries are set, you should read my review of the GUNNAR Campbell glasses. They are absolutely fantastic and not much more in price than the Clix.
