In terms of cozy game reviews, July was a little light. We managed to talk about four games this month, with everything else being news, guides, or a few lists. Everyone seemed to be saving their newest releases for August, so don’t fear, the August roundup is sure to be heavier with a ton of cozy games!
Obviously, the Hobbit in the room is Tales of the Shire. We managed to get a review copy and had some thoughts about it. Was it great, or did it leave an Ent-sized hole where our expectations used to be?
There’s not much to say about this update other than we hope that everyone has managed to stay cool during this brutal summer weather and we hope that you passed the time with excellent games.
Reviews

Spray Paint Simulator
Quick Verdict: Spray Paint Simulator has a long way to go before I can sit here and call it a good game. It’s certainly not the worst, is playable, and has some enjoyable aspects. Unfortunately, there are too many drawbacks that overshadow the good things.
Marvel Mystic Mayhem
Quick Verdict: While it isn’t a perfect game, Marvel Mystic Mayhem is the newest on a short list of worthwhile mobile games that fall under being both a licensed property and a gacha game. At the current rate, it feels like it could perform long-term and still not make you feel like you need to spend a dime. Plus, it’s full of great Marvel characters and tons of content.

Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game
Quick Verdict: I’m so torn on Tales of the Shire. In some ways, it’s an exceedingly charming game that’s great for a few hours of gameplay. In other ways, it’s a bit lifeless and has some gameplay designs that don’t make the best sense. It’s not the worst game or best game I’ve ever played, it’s very meh.
Tall Trails
Quick Verdict: Tall Trails is a 3-6 hour game where you explore the landscape through platforming. The level of difficulty scaled well without being frustrating. I enjoyed the entirety of this game, from the gameplay and aesthetics to the music. Tall Trails is a great game for a cozy gamer’s shelf.
