My Cozy Aquarium is bright, colorful, and nostalgically delightful in its art style. The shading and UI design remind me heavily of older games like Freddy Fish, Putt-Putt, and even Neopets. It’s all so wonderfully whimsical that it’s kind of hard not to just fall in love at first sight.

In My Cozy Aquarium, you’ll have four aquariums to choose from: Emerald Ripple, Coralspire Reef, Frozen Abyss, and Magic Cove. Each aquarium has its own unique aesthetic and fish to collect. All of the fish are inspired by real fish breeds, but with an added touch of magical flair.

You’ll begin by choosing whichever aquarium calls to you and build up to opening the other aquariums after. So, you don’t have to worry about being locked out of any content. Once you have selected your tank, you’ll be able to purchase surprise packs with fish inside.

To take care of your new companions, you’ll be responsible for feeding them, maintaining the water temperature, keeping the air filters clean, and holding the algae at bay. By keeping your fish happy, they’ll grow up healthy and ready for the world beyond. When your fish mature, you can sell them for a tidy profit that can be used to buy more fish packs, purchase decorations, or upgrade your tools.

There are over 320 fish to collect and care for, and I’m excited to see their designs. I’m wholly charmed by the art design and their happy little faces. Based on the images, it looks like there might be various colors for each fish that denote a hierarchy of rarities from common to legendary.

My Cozy Aquarium combines the fun of collecting with the ease of idling with a few sprinkles of mini-games to keep things interesting. There’s no word on a release date yet, but if you want to keep it on your radar, you can wishlist it over on Steam. Not only will this keep the game on your radar, but it’ll help the developers out as well.

My Cozy Aquarium has me falling in love with these happy little faces
