We’re coming up quick on the next Pokémon Presents, which means it’s time to speculate about what could be discussed during the presentation. Some things I want to detail are pretty obvious, some may be projects you’ve forgotten about, and some are pipe dreams from this classic Pocket Monsters fan. So, let’s dig in.

Let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way: What to probably expect from the Pokémon Presents

The majority of the Pokémon Presents will likely focus on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is set to release on October 16th, 2025. Since the last Pokémon Presents on Pokémon Day 2025 back in February, the slow drip of information and content has helped satisfy fans waiting for more meaty chunks and details about the game.

I fully expect a large swath of info that will be presented to reiterate some things we already know about Pokémon Legends: Z-A, to organize it easily for those that missed the smaller morsels over the past 5 months, while also weaving in new lore, story points, and gameplay. It’s hard to lock down exactly what we’ll get, but we can easily predict this happening.

In addition, Pokémon TCG Pocket has blown up since its launch late last year. The game works with a monthly formula of events and set releases, so we’re highly likely to get a trailer for whatever the next set will be, coming later this month. In addition, they’ll probably detail how the revamped trading system will work going forward after months of backlash about the current system.

They explained the new trading mechanic all pretty heavily this past week on their official website and within the game itself. But, seeing as the new mechanic is set to launch on July 29th, it’s plausible that the new set will launch during the same update.

One more major announcement happened during the Pokémon Presents event in February: Pokémon Champions. Pokémon Champions will be a stand-alone battling game akin to classic titles like Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Colleseum. It was also announced back in February, long before the Nintendo Switch 2 had launched (and before any lineup of games was presented in April), as being for the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.

It’s highly likely we’ll get a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement for Pokémon Champions during this Pokémon Presents, as well as more details about what the game actually entails. During that initial announcement, they did explain that you’ll be able to bring in Pokémon you have obtained from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, which will likely give it a connection to Pokémon Home in some way. That also means that there could be an update for Pokémon Home incoming.

As with most Pokémon Presents, we’re likely to see mentions of Pokémon GO, Pokémon Cafe Remix, Pokémon Masters EX, new events within Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and some showing of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. But, it’s unlikely they’ll make too many waves.

Surprises and predictions: They should definitely do this, but I won’t hold my breath

The Pokémon Company announced that there will be a pre-show for the Pokémon Presents on the Japanese version, which will be called “Everyone Gather! DJ Pikachu Live!”. It appears to be a CGI DJ Pikachu that’ll be playing music or remixes. As this isn’t normal, I’m wondering if this will tie into some sort of new game or possibly something else.

I’m going to predict that this isn’t some new Pokémon rhythm game (unfortunately), but could be a cheeky way to announce Pokémon music coming to the Nintendo Music app. There are so many soundtracks that can possibly show up on that app and that’d be a great way to show off some of the tunes to expect. It’s also low maintenance and upkeep for a possible floodgate of content.

There’s a non-zero chance that we’ll see our first tease of Generation 10 during the Pokémon Presents. They likely don’t want to overshadow the incoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Depending on if the game will have DLC in 2026 will also determine if they’re ready to show off the next era. But, seeing as 2026 is the 30th anniversary, they might have bigger Magikarp to fry.

However, there’s also a possibility that we’ll finally see Pokémon Black and White remakes. My concern is that the sequels, aptly named Black 2 and White 2 would also need to be remade in some way or else the fans may riot. With the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Black Bolt and White Flare TCG sets coming out this past week in the US, it’s possible that we’ll see something.

My big, probably-wrong prediction is that we’ll start to see Pokémon games on Nintendo Switch Online’s library. On the Nintendo Switch 2, I hope to see Pokémon Colosseum. But, that’d give plenty of backlog of ports from the other consoles, such as Pokémon Snap, the Mystery Dungeon series, and the first three generations of Pokémon mainline games.

I won’t hold my breath too long. But, if we wish for it hard enough, it’s bound to happen eventually, right? The 30th anniversary of Pokémon is only seven months away, and, seeing as how they handled the 10th and 20th anniversaries, 2026 is going to be a big year.

You can watch the Pokémon Presents on July 22nd at 6 AM PST (or 9 AM EST). As always, it’ll be available on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. If you play Pokémon TCG Pocket, you should also make sure to take advantage of the Eevee Summer gift code to earn 24 pack hourglasses, if you haven’t already done so. Here’s how to do that.
