Quick Verdict: I’m always going to rant and rave about any GUNNAR glasses that come in the Clear Pro option. But, the blocky, professional-looking GUNNAR Fremont is already among my favorites (so far) for 2025. |

I recently reviewed the amazing GUNNAR Campbell, a rounded, wiry frame from the prolific blue-blocker glasses company, and I loved it. I’m a big fan of rounded glasses. But what about something a little more boxy for those who need more angles in their frames? That’s where the GUNNAR Fremont comes in.
Let’s take a look at what you can expect from the GUNNAR Fremont because it’s pretty snazzy all around.
What’s in the box?

I’m going to get it out of the way, as all higher-priced GUNNAR glasses come with pretty standardized accessories in the box. You’ll find a hard-shell case of some type, a branded microfiber cloth, and a branded microfiber pouch. The pouch and cloth are the classic black and gray that work as intended, but they’re nothing to write home about.
The hard-shell case included with the GUNNAR Fremont is a triangular, collapsible case. It’s faux leather and has a magnetized closure. While it isn’t anything fancy, it is nice to be able to fold it up to flatten it when it isn’t holding anything and slip it into your pocket.
Aside from that, the only thing that comes in the box is the pair of glasses itself.
Tech in the Specs (or, Holding a Lens Up to These Glasses)

If you’re reading this review, there’s a chance that you already know all of the great benefits of GUNNAR lenses. Even though I don’t wear prescription glasses at all, I’ve been a huge fan of the brand for years due to all of the coatings that their glasses have.
When you buy GUNNAR, you can always expect anti-reflective, anti-glare coatings, water and smudge resistance, and some level of blue-light blocking. As someone who doesn’t need glasses, I wear them because I work at a computer all day long and play a ton of games. The blue-light blocking is always helpful, but it also keeps air and wind out of my eyes pretty well.
The GUNNAR Fremont comes with a couple of lens options. If you’re looking to play a lot of games or sit at a computer for extended periods, the 65 Amber is always a tried and true classic.
But, I’d be remiss not to talk about Clear Pro as an option for a moment. The problem with Amber is that it’s, well, pretty yellow to look through. Clear Pro is one of GUNNAR’s new lens types, and it just blows their old Clear option out of the water.
Sure, you lose a bit of the blue-light-blocking capability. But you gain a more true-to-color viewing experience without losing any of the other coatings. If you work with pictures or art a lot, or just want to see the way your eyes are meant to see, Clear Pro is the way to go.
Wearing the GUNNAR Fremont glasses

I mentioned at the top of this article that I also recently reviewed the GUNNAR Campbell. While the Fremont isn’t as flashy or fancy-looking on the surface, it’s honestly a great comparison to have. The Fremont is the blocky, squared-off brother of the Campbell and looks professional in any setting.
Sitting on my face, I do notice that it’s a little heavier than some of their frames, including the Campbell. The Campbell was also heavier than the Arbor collection (which also got glowing reviews from me). But, it’s really negligible compared to some of the chunkier frames that GUNNAR has put out in the past.
From the front, it’s very utilitarian and standard-looking. But, the arms bring a nice onyx-colored swirl to make it a stylish frame to boot, with a little texture that is needed to an otherwise simple frame. All in all, it’s not super fancy, and it’s not meant to be.
I’m always going to rave when GUNNAR frames have flexible spring hinges, as I have a pretty big head, and they help fit any shape and size. If you’ve read any of my previous reviews on GUNNAR glasses, you know all about that.
Final Verdict

While I’m just a little bit more of a fan of the Campbell, the GUNNAR Fremont is a clear winner on a lot of fronts. GUNNAR has a ton of great frames set to come out this year, and the Fremont is on track to be one of their top-tier glasses for 2025.
