Faves from the Week: 8 cozy games released on Steam that I've squirreled away to play - January 5-9, 2026

It’s a brand new week and I’ve got more cozy games that I’m adding to my wishlist. Someone, come save me. It’s large and it’s going to overtake me one of these days.

As always, this is my preference for what the week churned out and may not align with what you consider cozy. However, despite skewing toward idlers and incremental games, I feel like my tastes align with what would be considered stereotypical for what I find cozy.

Retro Relics

Retro Relics is an exploration game where you play as a metal detectorist following in your Grandpa’s footsteps. You’ll roam nature using your metal detector and dig up whatever it finds. With no time limits, you can just spend time exploring and helping people find their lost belongings as you complete your collection of relics and coins.

Kinsfolk is an adventure game that explores the meaning of family through the eyes of a new father. Encounter and relive short stories from your past to see how you got where you are. Each story will challenge your perspective through light puzzle and platforming elements.

Pencil Stories

Pencil Stories is an exploration adventure where you embody Letty, a letter trying to figure out where an undeliverable letter is meant to go. Every night is a new letter that takes you through the slumbering village of Tsukinoma. Filled with puzzles of all kinds to unravel, you’ll figure it out at your own pace with no time limits or combat. If you get stuck, there is a helpful hint system to get you back on track.

Cozy Home

Cozy Home is a puzzle game where you spend your time sorting, stacking, and organizing items. By completing mini-tasks, you’ll bring color slowly back to lifeless paintings that are hanging on your wall. No time limits, no rush, just pure relaxation as you put things in order.

Forest Hustle

Forest Hustle is an incremental 3D game where you’re tasked with paying off $100k debt. Use the forest to your advantage by gathering wood and stone to build up your base and sell to traders. Hire dogs, upgrade your equipment, and eventually hire workers to get your operation underway!
