Ghost Haunting is going to throw you back in time to the boom of the point-and-click adventure game. You’re likely familiar with games like Day of the Tentacle, The Curse of Monkey Island, and King’s Quest. Or, you’re a zygote. Whether you’re returning to the tried and true or you’re playing this genre for the first time, Ghost Haunting should be on your radar!
Ghost Haunting puts you in the shoes of 8-year-old Gigi, who stumbles upon a family secret during what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. That secret? That her curmudgeonly grandpa, Giovanni, is a legendary ghost hunter. Learning this, Gigi sets herself upon a mission to bring back her late grandmother from the realm of the dead. Not only is this task hard to complete, but it’s potentially world-ending as well.
You’ll be taken on an adventure full of puzzles and puns through a handcrafted 2D world. You’ll meet a quirky cast of characters as you navigate a story of grief, growing up, and learning from your own missteps as you journey through the afterlife. You won’t do it alone, though. You’ll be joined by a talking pumpkin-demon named Baron Butternut. Or, as Gigi says, Baron Buttnut.
Ghost Haunting presents a nostalgic atmosphere with familiar mechanics from beloved ’90s point-and-click adventures while bringing a modern twist to it. It touts all the fun and none of the frustration. With the help of a built-in hint system with hotspot highlighting and fast travel, you’ll enjoy the best that the genre has to offer with none of the pitfalls.
Personally, I’m incredibly excited to get my hands on Ghost Haunting. I have a fond spot for point-and-click games, especially those from the ’90s. So, I’m looking forward to experiencing a game that recaptures that vibe.
Unfortunately, I don’t know the timeline we should expect to get our hands on Ghost Haunting, but I’d urge you to go to the Steam page and wishlist the game. Not only will this help out the developers, but it’ll keep the game on your radar!
