Cozy news roundup from the Nintendo Direct - June 9th, 2026

There’s been a ton of news coming down the line these past few days and we’re finishing everything off with a Nintendo Direct. If you’re like me, then your brain is probably overflowing with all the new games and updates that are coming out. So, I’m summarizing the cozy news to make it easier for you to know what to look out for.

Cozy game summary of the Nintendo Direct

Big Walk

Big Walk is an open-world exploration co-op adventure game. You’ll explore a large open world with your friends as you make discoveries, beat puzzles, and overcome challenges. What I love about this game is that it’s simple enough for everyone to enjoy and has a system built in that affects your voice based on where you are and how far away you are. It’s the perfect example of being a silly little guy. Big Walk is releasing on August 4th.

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet is a new shopkeeper sim set in the One Piece universe. You’ll build up a floating cafe at sea with Sanji at the helm. You’ll be responsible for creating the menu, decorating the cafe, and satisfying the customers! When you’re not running the restaurant, you can search the high seas for new ingredients in a little window that drops down beneath the cafe. With the use of different Devil Fruit powers, you can change the way a dish tastes. As you play, you’ll encounter over 400 characters from the One Piece series. ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet is releasing on October 23rd.

Pokopia

Pokopia has a new free update that adds the ability to dive beneath the water to explore the ocean floor and build structures for your Pokémon, coming in August. In a paid-for expansion pass, you’ll discover Bubbly Basin, an underwater town waiting to be explored. You’ll find new furniture, outfits, and new Pokémon like Popplio and Mudkip to add to your gameplay experience. The expansion pass is available today and is only part one of what the expansion offers. In late 2026, it will add new features, and in 2027, it will add another town. By claiming the expansion pass, you’ll get an exclusive Ditto print recipe and 30 rare Pokémetal. The Pokémetal is only available to claim until August 31st.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is reminiscent of Wii Sports in that you’ll use your controllers to play a series of sports games. There are 12 sports that you’ll be able to play: boxing, table tennis, archery, tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, thumb wrestling, skateboarding, power cruising, jump rope, and an additional game of flying a prop plane. Your avatar can be one you create in the game or your own Mii character. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is coming on October 22nd.

Hello Kitty Party Land

Hello Kitty Party Land is a party game filled with mini-games that you can play with up to 4 players. You’ll be able to customize your own character and enjoy a world with over 140 Sanrio characters! There are over 40 character-themed mini-games and board games. Choose from 16 partner characters, collect stickers, and more! It’ll be available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Hello Kitty Party Land is coming on October 29th.

Minecraft

Minecraft is getting a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 version that will allow you to dive into the cuboid world on the new system. And, you’ll be able to carry data from your Nintendo Switch over to your Nintendo Switch 2 so that you can pick up a world you’ve already started on the previous system. There’s no exact date for release, but we do know it’s coming out in 2026.

Everbloom

Everbloom is an open-world farming and social sim where you can play solo or co-op up to 4 players. You build up a homestead from the ground up by crafting and building furniture, buildings, tools, and equipment. You have the ability to go fishing, cook, breed flowers, befriend townsfolk, and even romance them! The direct confirms that it will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 along with other platforms in the Spring of 2027.

Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts is getting an explosion of game collections for the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. If you have any Nintendo Switch cloud saves of these games, they’re transferable to the new system. The first collection is Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 Re Mind coming October 8th. Also coming on the 8th is a bundle called Kingdom Hearts Collection [1-3] that will include all three of the mainstay games. For those waiting on Kingdom Hearts IV news, we got a new trailer, but nothing else concrete except that it is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time got an updated trailer and the confirmation that the game will be released in 2026, but no actual date was confirmed. It does appear to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
